Swazi Kids is a non-governmental organization based in British Columbia, Canada, dedicated to improving the lives of some of the most vulnerable children and adults in eSwatini (formerly Swaziland), a small landlocked country in southern Africa, bordered by South Africa and Mozambique.
Swazi Kids has been, since 2001, a grass roots charity, dependent entirely on the generosity of compassionate individuals and groups. With regular trips to eSwatini, we personally know every child our donors support, and their needs and aspirations.
OUR MISSION is to break the cycle of needless poverty, illness and lack of education, one community, one student and one family at a time. We accomplish this through:
Education
Our donors make annual contributions for tuition, so that poor children (especially girls) can attend primary and secondary school, trade school and university.
Construction
We build schools, preschools, libraries and community centres for the most at risk members of rural communities, through engagement with local leaders to enhance and develop infrastructure.
Basic necessities
We purchase school uniforms, it is a real sign of poverty and stigmatizing to not have a uniform for school-we provide food, accommodation and transportation allowances for students who must attend school in a different community.
Health care
We pay for basic medical care, HIV testing and medical treatment.
Housing
We raise funds to build homes for abandoned children, and for orphaned children whose parents have died from HIV/AIDS.
Clean water
We drill wells in rural areas for clean and safe drinking water, and provide materials for the storage and piping of water.
